The classic "grandma" cooking is more than simple and tasty, it's also frugal. Grandma would never toss out stale bread. It would be re-purposed into stuffing, meatloaf, croutons, bread and butter pudding, breadcrumbs or French toast. To make a bread omelet, soak three cups of stale bread in three cups of hot milk. Add a cup of grated cheese and beat well. Add three beaten eggs and seasoning. Melt a tablespoon of butter in a fry-pan, when hot, add the mixture. Cook slowly until set. Serve hot.
